CU Boulder closing campus to public on 4-20-2014 to snuff out annual pot celebration

BOULDER, Colo. - The University of Colorado plans to close its Boulder campus on April 20 for the third straight year to curtail an annual marijuana celebration that has drawn thousands of participants in years past.

The Daily Camera reports campus officials have been trying to extinguish the pot smokeout -- which at its height drew about 10,000 tokers -- by closing the campus to outsiders, spreading fishy smelling fertilizer on the quad and enforcing marijuana laws.

CU spokesman Ryan Huff says the gathering is very disruptive and has no business on the campus.

From noon to 6 p.m. on April 20, CU faculty, students and staff will be required to show identification to enter the campus. Visitors with official business will need to get a visitor's pass.
