DENVER -- Police are putting out a warning to Denver residents after several reports of criminals following them home to gain access to secure parking garages. The incidents happened in the city's southeast side, in Denver Police District 3.

Police say once the criminals are inside they are stealing bikes and breaking into cars.

"If you’re in a rush you’re probably not really paying attention that hey there’s a car that’s right behind you that you’ve allowed access into your building," said John White, spokesperson for the Denver Police Department.

White says residents should stop once they're inside the door, allowing it to close before they pull away.
