Couple's deaths in western Colorado ruled murder-suicide

MONTROSE, Colo. - Authorities in western Colorado say a man shot his elderly and ailing wife to death before turning the gun on himself.

Delta County Sheriff Fred McKee tells the Montrose Daily Press that 67-year-old Eddie White shot 81-year-old Betty White in the torso at the couple's home Dec. 8. The rifle was found next to the man's body when a concerned family member discovered the deaths later that evening.

The sheriff says "we can speculate that it had to do with her health issues," but Eddie White did not leave a note before the murder-suicide.
