LAKEWOOD, Colo. - Police are asking for the public's help to identify a man and a woman suspected of stealing from both a Lakewood Nordstrom Rack and a Rite Aid store and using a knife to threaten employees.
At around 6 p.m. on Feb. 24, the couple entered a Nordstrom Rack store in the in the Belmar Shopping Center at Wadsworth Boulevard and Alameda Avenue. After spending a short time in the store, the couple selected fragrance bottles, concealed them and left the store, according to a police report.
Investigators said the couple was confronted by a store employee and asked to return. The man dropped the stolen items and threatened the store employee with a knife. Both suspects ran and were not located. Store surveillance cameras captured images of the couple.
On March 6, police said the same couple entered a Rite Aid store in the area of Wadsworth Boulevard and Jewell Avenue. Again, the couple selected two fragrance bottles and left the store. When a loss prevention officer confronted the couple outside, the man again dropped the stolen items and threatened the store employee with a knife.
The couple ran and was last seen boarding a RTD bus. Shortly afterwards officers stopped the bus, but the couple had already exited the vehicle and were not located.
Cameras onboard the RTD bus captured images of the couple, who were wearing the same clothing in both robberies.
The suspects were described as a white man about 5-foot-5 inches tall with brown hair, a goatee and weighing about 130 to 140 pounds.
He wore a black hooded sweatshirt and had a backpack during both incidents.
The woman was described as white, about 5-foot-5 inches tall, with brown hair possibly with red highlights, who was last seen wearing a sweatshirt and carrying a camouflage backpack.
