A sideshow at the Boulder County Fair advertising "Little Liz, the World's Smallest Woman" has been shut down after complaints.
One county official says the show featuring a 29-inch-tall woman from Haiti had an "'ick' factor to it." The attraction advertised the chance to see and photograph the woman.
The (Longmont) Times-Call reports (http://bit.ly/1nB70f7) that a similar act called "Tiny Tina" was evicted by the New Mexico State Fair in 2008, with fair officials calling the act exploitation.
The owner of Crabtree Amusements, which runs the carnival, said "Little Liz" plays about 20 events a year with his carnival, spending the winter in Haiti. He compared "Little Liz" to a Santa Claus impersonator who sits for pictures with children, saying the act is not exploitative.
