WELD COUNTY, Colo. - Officials with the Pawnee National Grasslands in northeastern Colorado are trying to determine who dumped a large hot tub and who dumped a couch on public land.
The hot tub was left on the west of the Pawnee grasslands in December. Then, a couch was dumped in the same place around Christmas, officials said.
"Each time crimes like this occur, tax dollars must be spent correcting the situation instead of those dollars being spent on the management of Grassland resources," officials said.
Forest officials are asking the public if they know anything about this crime or see someone dumping items in the future, to call Law Enforcement Officer Terry Baxter at 970-295-6719.
Trash dumpers could face a $500 fine and additional expenses to cover the cost of removing the trash.
