Coroner: Driver dies of natural causes before pickup plows through home in Grand Junction

No residents in home when truck crashes through it

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - A pickup truck plowed through a Grand Junction home Friday after the 55-year-old driver died from a "natural event," the Mesa County coroner said.

Luckily, no residents were in the Bunting Avenue house when the pickup smashed through it and kept rolling through the back yard and a fence before coming to rest in the alley after hitting a garage, police said.

A coroner's office statement said the driver, identified as Stanley Sanders of Grand Junction, "had a natural event and did not sustain any injuries" from the collision. "The manner of death was natural so we will not be providing further details of his health history," the coroner said.

A police officer found an "unresponsive" Stanley in the truck. The officer removed the driver from the truck and attempted CPR, but Stanley was pronounced dead at scene.

The house sustained severe damage.
