"Hope starts here" -- that's the message that was shared at Denver's Lincoln Park Saturday.

The city's first Convoy of Hope event promised to give $1 million in free goods and services to the community, including free shoes, dental exams, haircuts, family portraits, groceries and more.

Convoy of Hope has put on dozens of events in big cities nationwide, and the organization is no stranger to Coloradans. In 2013, Convoy of Hope volunteers helped clean up Lyons after the severe floods.

Saturday's event started at 10 a.m. and ran through the afternoon until supplies ran out.
