DENVER - Friends remember long-time employee of the Gothic Theatre Chris Haney with a memorial concert, after he was shot and killed trying to stop a fight outside a Denny's.
The 36 year old was walking home from a concert at the Hi-Dive last Saturday, when he tried to stop a group that was fighting in the parking lot at the restaurant. The crime scene showed a single bullet hole through the front window of the restaurant. Denver police officers closed down the location for most of the day while collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses.
Two brothers, Robert and Paul Bernal, have been charged with first-degree murder in the case.
Friends said Haney worked as a bartender at the Gothic Theatre for the last decade. His childhood friend Caleb Braaten was with Haney just thirty minutes before the shooting and said it was a great night that had a tragic ending.
