CASTLE ROCK, Colo. - Community members are planning a walk this morning to show support for Douglas County School District teachers and Principal Amber Sorg.
The walk begins at 11 a.m. at the Phillip S. Miller Library in Castle Rock, organizers told 7NEWS. The group will walk to the DCSD administration building and arrive at approximately 11:30 a.m.
Sorg is at the center of a community controversy over teacher merit pay at Rock Ridge Elementary School.
She was placed on administrative leave for misconduct, the district confirmed Monday.
School Board President, Kevin Larsen, told 7NEWS on Friday the schools' teacher evaluations did not match up with the final score given to some teachers.
Multiple sources told 7NEWS the district is disciplining Sorg for scoring too many teachers too high in their evaluations.
A district spokeswoman also told 7NEWS the agency could not discuss details of Sorg's suspension because it is a personnel matter.
