A Colorado State Patrol trooper who was hit and seriously injured by a man who carjacked a vehicle is recovering from his injuries.
Trooper Bellamann Hee was hospitalized in serious condition on Thursday, but he is expected to make a full recovery.
Hee was injured Wednesday while throwing stop sticks to stop a man who stole an SUV with a 4-year-old boy inside.
Hee was able to speak and was conscious and aware of his surroundings when he arrived at the hospital Wednesday, said 7NEWS Reporter Tyler Lopez.
After surgery he felt strong enough to have visitors and even joked about going back to work, Lopez reported.
Hee did not lose any limbs despite horrific collision, Lopez said.
The kidnapped boy was found safe after the fleeing driver jumped out of the SUV and stole another vehicle.
Police say Ryan Stone was wanted in a drug case when he stole a car. The chase ended when the fleeing driver crashed in Lone Tree, south of Denver. Stone was arrested when he tried run.
