WELD COUNTY, Colo. - A Colorado State Patrol trooper is facing charges of careless driving causing injury after a crash that involved four vehicles and shut down a highway southwest of Platteville.

The Colorado State Patrol says trooper Brian McNulty was driving a state patrol SUV Monday when he struck a pickup that was stopped at the intersection of Highway 66 and Weld County Road 19.

The pickup went into an oncoming lane of traffic and struck a car. Another driver swerved to avoid the crash and also hit the pickup.

According to the Greeley Tribune, the driver of the car, Trina Colvin, suffered minor injuries and was treated at a hospital. No other injuries were reported.

A patrol spokeswoman did not return a phone call seeking more information.
