COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Police officers shot a pit bull outside an elementary school in Colorado Springs on Thursday morning.

Officers said they were called to the area near Scott Elementary School around 8 a.m. on a report that two dogs were running loose.

Officers said they got the children out of the area, captured one dog and had to shoot the other. They did not release the shot dog's condition.

No people were hurt.

The dogs did not have any information identifying their owner, police said.
