Colorado Springs PD: Uber passenger who ‘hated all brown people' chases fleeing driver

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A man was arrested in Colorado Springs early Friday morning after police say he threatened to kill and then chased down on foot a fleeing Uber driver, who is in his 20s and of Middle Eastern descent.

Sean Scappaticci, 29, was riding in an Uber when he allegedly began threatening to kill the driver because he “hated all brown people.,” according to a report from the Colorado Springs Police Department.

During the ride, police said Scappaticci also claimed that he was a former Army Ranger and had killed many of victim’s families overseas. 

According to the report, the victim, fearing for his life, stopped in the 200 block of south 8th Street and fled on foot. 

At that point, police say Scappaticci began chasing the driver, yelling to the victim that he was going to beat him up.

When police caught up with the suspect, they say he continued making remarks about wanting to kill all “brown” people.”

He was arrested and booked into jail on multiple charges. He is also accused of breaking the back window of a marked patrol vehicle during his arrest.

Police say no officers were injured.
