Colorado Springs officer David Rosenoff accused in DUI crash, tampering with evidence due in court

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A Colorado Springs police officer accused of stealing his own blood sample to avoid a DUI charge is due in court Tuesday to hear the charges against him.

Officer David Rosenoff was off-duty when he crashed at Interstate 25 and Woodmen Road at 1 a.m. Sunday Nov. 10, police say. Rosenoff was taken to a hospital to have blood drawn for the investigation, then served and released on the charges of careless driving, DUI and DUI per se.

After the hospital, Rosenoff was taken home.

The arresting officer later noticed that Rosenoff's blood sample was missing from his car, and a new investigation began. CSPD detectives and the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office concluded that Rosenoff was responsible.

Rosenoff was re-arrested on Nov. 11 and charged with tampering with evidence. He was taken to the El Paso County jail.

Rosenoff is on administrative leave without pay.
