Colorado Springs man accused of attacking his girlfriend with hammer

Victim treated at hospital, condition unknown

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A Colorado Springs man is accused of attacking his girlfriend with a hammer.

Colorado Springs police said they got reports of man with a gun at 5750 Snow Creek Point just after 3:30 a.m. Sunday. Witnesses said the man was knocking on doors, looking for his girlfriend.

Officers said Jeffrey Taurianen, 24, hit his 32-year-old girlfriend multiple times in the head with a hammer. She tried to escape but Taurianen carried her against her will, and threatened her with a handgun, according to police records.

The victim went to a local hospital for treatment.  Her condition is not available.

Police say the motivation for this domestic violence assault was reportedly jealousy.
