COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A garage explosion and fire in Colorado Springs sent a toddler and the child's father to hospitals in Denver Sunday afternoon.
A third person was being treated at a hospital in Colorado Springs and was in stable condition, the Colorado Springs Fire Department said.
The explosion happened in the 3000 block of Greenwood Circle at about 3 p.m.
The 2 1/2 year old boy was flown to The Children's Hospital in Aurora.
Fire investigators believe the cause of the explosion was a pilot light on a hot water heater that ignited gasoline from a vehicle that was being worked on in the attached garage by the two men.
The garage was heavily damaged and there was some damage to the house, KRDO.com reported.
