COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Three important officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department are getting new life-saving equipment.
The officers are K-9's and they're each getting a specially made ballistic vest.
Some 100 K-9's across the country are getting the bullet-proof vests from Vested Interest in K9s Inc., a non-profit company in Massachusetts. The company chose Colorado Springs K-9's Jovi, Broc and Diesel to be among those 100 dogs.
The vests are valued at over $1,000 and will last five years, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.
Because each vest is custom-made, it may take a few weeks for the vests to arrive.
