DENVER - The Colorado Rockies will host their home opener Friday at Coors Field.
The Rockies, currently 1-3 after opening the season on the road against Miami, will host the Arizona Diamondbacks at 2:10 p.m.
Pitcher Juan Nicasio, who was seriously injured when he was hit by a ball in 2011, will be the starter for the Rockies.
However, opening day will see a major change to the Rockies roster. It will be the first time in 17 years that the Rockies won't have #17 Todd Helton. Helton retired last fall after playing his entire career with the Rockies.
7NEWS is proud to be part of the opening day festivities, bringing you live coverage on 7NEWS 11 a.m. to noon on Denver's Channel 7.
And at noon, we hope you'll join sports anchors Lionel Bienvenu and Arran Andersen for a special appcast airing on the 7NEWS app, TheDenverChannel.com website and Comcast Cable channel 247. During the appcast, you'll hear from Nicasio about fighting back after injury, you'll see the newest addition to Coors Field -- "The Rooftop," and much more.
