DENVER – Members of Colorado’s congressional delegation are reacting to the latest stall to the GOP’s effort to repeal and replace “Obamacare.”
The Senate bill was fatally wounded Monday nightwhen two more Republican senators, Mike Lee of Utah and Jerry Moran of Kansas, announced their opposition to the legislation. Next steps, if any, were not immediately clear.
U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet, a Democrat, is calling for a bipartisan approach to fixing the country's health care system.
“It’s now time for a bipartisan process that will lead to a bill that is actually responsive to Americans & fixes our health care system,” Bennet tweeted Monday.

In a separate tweet, Bennet said Americans are demanding "better solutions to fix our health care system."

Another Democrat, U.S. Rep. Jared Polis, tweeted a haiku in response to the apparent failure of Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s legislation. His message echoes that of Bennet's.

Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper tweeted Tuesday that McConnell's effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act in the wake of the Senate bill's failure is an idea that shouldn't even be entertained. His remark was part of of a bipartisan group of 11 governors who issued a joint statement calling for both parities to come together to fix the health care system.
"The Senate should immediately reject efforts to repeal. Congress should work to make health insurance more affordable by controlling costs and stabilizing the market. 11 Democratic and Republican governors agree!" Hickenooper tweeted.
Absent from any reaction Monday was the senator who helped draft the bill, U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner. The Republican’s Twitter account was silent on the matter Monday. However, more reactions are expected Tuesday.
