Colorado grandfather pleads not guilty to helping son in Longmont kidnapping case

BOULDER, Colo. - A not guilty plea has been entered on behalf of a Divide grandfather authorities say was involved in the kidnapping of his grandson.

The Longmont Times-Call reports 72-year-old Ronald Turner's attorney asked for more time to enter a plea after requesting additional evidence from prosecutors. But Boulder District Judge Andrew McDonald entered the not guilty plea Friday after hearing from prosecutors that a deal in the case was unlikely and they wanted to set a trial for February.

Turner faces multiple charges after authorities say he helped his son, Monty Turner, plan and ultimately kidnap Monty Turner's 3-year-old son, Luke.

Monty Turner is accused of breaking into his estranged wife's Longmont home May 25, shooting her with a stun gun and pepper spray, and kidnapping the boy.
