Colorado fugitive, girlfriend die in murder-suicide after Oklahoma crime spree

TULSA, Okla. - Two Colorado fugitives are dead in an apparent murder-suicide in Tulsa following a carjacking and a police pursuit, police said Tuesday night.

Police identified the two as Roy Hanthorn, 36, and Rhiannon Vantassel, 32, and said they were in a car stolen out of Colorado Springs, Colo.

Vantassel was a passenger in a stolen car driven by Hanthorn, police said, adding that the woman appeared to be with the suspect willingly, police said.

The two carjacked a vehicle, police said. The chase ended when the man crashed the stolen car into another car in midtown Tulsa. That's when police saw Hanthorn fatally shot the woman and then shoot himself. He was rushed to a local hospital in grave condition but police said he later died.
