Man falls 250 feet to death In Eldorado Canyon

BOULDER, Colo. - Authorities say a 41-year-old man fell 250 feet to his death in Eldorado Canyon State Park near Boulder.

The man was found dead just below the Bastille Rock formation at 5:25 p.m. Friday. The man, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was not wearing climbing gear when the body was found on the road below.  A witness saw the man fall and said the man made no sound while falling.

The county coroner's office is investigating the death. The Boulder County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the victim once they have confirmed that all family members have been notified of the death.

Units from Rocky Mountain Fire, Boulder Emergency Squad and Rocky Mountain Rescue were involved in the retrieval.
