Classes were canceled Monday at McGlone Elementary School in Denver and Everitt Middle School in Wheat Ridge for pipe breaks.
A water pipe broke overnight at McGlone Elementary, flooding the school. Denver Public Schools officials said crews are working to repair the break and clean up the water.
Officials said pre-school and kindergarten classes will be held on Tuesday, because those class rooms were not impacted by flooding. But classes for grades 1 through 5 are canceled for Tuesday, as staff works to repair the pipe and clean up the water.
The status of school for Wednesday for grades 1-5 will be given on Tuesday, DPS spokeswoman Kristy Armstrong said.
Meanwhile, a water main break forced the cancellation of classes at Everitt Middle School. Some students were already at the school when the break happened. School officials said they called parents and asked them to pick up the students.
