City Park man says thief broke into his home, stole his dog; $500 offered for return of Coltrane

1-year-old Border Collie mix has microchip, tags

DENVER - A Denver man, who says someone broke into his home in City Park and took his dog, is asking the public for help to locate Coltrane, the Border Collie mix.

Dominic Lockwood said he and his roommate where both away from their home Saturday, while Coltrane was locked up inside, when someone entered the house through a sliding glass door and ransacked it.

According to Lockwood, thousands of dollars in power tools from a locked case, as well as his snowboard were taken. But worst of all, Coltrane was nowhere to be found.

Lockwood said he is confident the thief took the 1-year-old dog because Coltrane was extremely intelligent and would never wander past the front fence of the property unescorted.

"I can't believe anyone would take a dog. Take my stuff. Leave my dog," said Lockwood.

A $500 reward is being offered for the safe return of Coltrane, and Lockwood has created a Facebook page to help spread the word about the dog's disappearance.

Coltrane does have a microchip and was wearing contact tags, so if he ends up at a shelter he will be returned home.
