AURORA, Colo. — A city of sorts is developing on the land surrounding Denver International Airport.
Besides new homes, you'll see cranes in the skyline. They'll be used for the construction of a new 1500 room resort.
Not far from there, a new Panasonic facility with access to downtown and the airport using the A-line.
"That's an area that can handle Fortune 500 companies, corporate headquarters, the conference and resort hotel that you're seeing built by the Gaylord," said J.J. Ament, Chief Executive Officer, Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation.
The area will be attractive to big companies, that bring big jobs, in part because there's room to build offices from the ground up.
It’s an area that’s also a location central to the rest of the country, one of several sites local leaders will propose to Amazon.
"It is perfect for people who are trying to find a place that is connected globally, within the center of the United States from which to base their operations."
It's clear the area is growing.
Plans are now underway to build "Aurora Highlands," a 5,000 acre development just south of DIA. It will include thousands of homes, parks and doctor's offices.
Manmeet Kaur just opened a Pita Pit sandwich shop on Sunday, knowing the potential growth, here by the airport.
"This is a very happening place, like in another two or three years, I see a lot of dwellings coming up," she said.
