Children, drivers injured in crash involving Wray school bus and pickup truck

WRAY, Colo. - Six people, including four children, were hospitalized following a crash involving a school bus and a pickup truck in Yuma County Monday.

At about 4:18 p.m., the Colorado State Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash at County Road FF and County Road 25.

A Wray School District bus was traveling southbound on County Road FF when it entered an uncontrolled intersection, said State Patrol spokesman Trooper Nate Reed.

A 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup was traveling eastbound on County Road 25 when it entered the intersection and collided with the school bus. The bus rolled over once and came to rest on its wheels, Reid said.

Both female drivers were transported to Wray Community Hospital with serious injuries.

All four children who were aboard the bus were taken to the same hospital. One child had serious injuries. Wray School District Superintendent Richard Spencer said he believes three students with minor injuries were later released.

 The crash remains under investigation.
