LOVELAND, Colo. - Loveland police have arrested a man suspected of molesting a child Thursday at Seven Lakes Park.
Police said the child's mother called police at 2:38 p.m. and said her child had been molested about 10 minutes earlier at the park at 1900 Park Dr.
Police searched the area and used a K-9 unit but were not able to locate anyone matching the man's description. However officers did find witnesses who had seen the distressed child and observed the suspect fleeing the area.
The preteen child and the child’s family continued to work closely with Loveland Police investigators. Together, they were able to identify a suspect.
The investigators requested and received a search warrant and an arrest warrant for 52-year-old Loveland resident John Lyle McClure II,a registered sex offender.
Police received a tip from a citizen who recognized McClure from wanted posters that the officers hung in downtown Loveland earlier this evening.
At 9:30 Friday night, police officers found McClure hiding in a group of bushes by the railroad tracks near 10th Street. McClure was arrested was taken to the Larimer County Jail.
McClure faces the following charges:
• First Degree Kidnapping – a class 2 Felony
• Sexual Assault on a Child – a class 3 Felony
• Enticement of a Child – a class 4 Felony
• Criminal Extortion – a class 4 Felony
