DENVER - The 8-year-old boy critically injured in a drive-by shooting last week continues to improve.
The boy, Jacob Valdivia, was upgraded to fair condition over the weekend, according to Denver Health. That typically means his vital signs are stabilizing and that indicators are favorable for his recovery.
Police said the boy was riding in the back seat of a Jeep last Monday near Sixth Avenue and Knox Court when shots were fired from a passing car around 6:30 p.m.
Jacob was hit in the back, police said.
The boy's mother and a male friend were also in the Jeep. They were not hurt, police said.
Officers said they are looking for two Hispanic men who were in a white car, but they have not released any other details.
Police said the gang unit is investigating the case.
