PUEBLO, Colo. - Police say remains found near Mount Shavano, near Buena Vista, are those of a 32-year-old Salida woman who disappeared 35 years ago, and investigators suspect foul play was involved.
Beverly England was reported missing by her husband in 1980, after she didn't return home. Investigators soon ran out of leads.
The Pueblo Chieftain reports that 12 years after her disappearance, a set of bones was recovered. However, it wasn't until about two weeks ago that a forensic pathologist identified the remains through advanced DNA technology.
The Chaffee County Sheriff's Office has reopened the investigation, and the area where the bones were found is being excavated. Evidence has led investigators to believe England was the victim of foul play.
