Cattle escape hauler after crash on westbound I-70 near Deer Trail

DEER TRAIL, Colo. - Cattle have escaped a hauler after it rolled over in a crash on Westbound Interstate 70 near Deer Trail.

According to Colorado State Patrol Trooper Josh Lewis, the truck rolled over near mile marker 332 at 12:33 p.m. The westbound side of I-70 is closed because it is partially blocked the crashed vehicle and because troopers are still trying to corral the escaped cows.

Lewis did not know yet if any of the animals in the truck were injured or killed.

After the cows are all caught, the interstate will partially reopen. Specialized equipment will need to be used to turn the hauler upright before the road can fully reopen.
