Car slams into Fort Collins deli; police say 80-year-old driver taken to hospital

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Diners at Jason's Deli in Fort Collins got quite a surprise Tuesday afternoon when a car crashed into the business.

No one was injured inside the business when the Buick sedan jumped the curb and crashed into the deli at 1538 E. Harmony Rd.  The left front quarter of the car smashed through plate glass, showering shattered glass on the floor of the deli.

The driver, John O'Neil, 80, of Fort Collins, was found unconscious and was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies for treatment, according to police.

His condition has not been released.

Officers said they do not believe speed or alcohol contributed to the collision and are working to determine if O'Neil suffered from any medical conditions.

Police cordoned off the area around the front of the store while they investigated.
