Candles lit up the night for 11-year-old Aundrea Plunkett -- only fitting for a girl described as the family's "shining light."
"Remember Aundrea and remember her legacy and just you bask in the love that she gave to the world," said Aundrea's aunt Nicole Pearson.
Aundrea was killed while riding her bike on West Girard Avenue on May 22. Police said she entered the intersection at South Zuni just as the SUV was driving by.
According to Sheridan Police, they do not believe speed was a factor in the crash. A sign near the family's home says "slow down, children at play." Aundrea's family hopes the accident will reminder others to watch out for children this summer.
"I'm out here every day yelling at people please slow down slow down," said Aundrea's stepfather Ken Wilson.
Aundrea made it though two surgeries, but her injuries proved to be too severe. Her family is finding comfort in the decision to donate her organs, including kidneys, corneas and heart valves.
The 11-year-old attended Westminster Schools. Thursday was supposed to be her last day of classes before summer break.
"She always looked up to me and recently I accepted her diploma at her school," said Aundrea's stepsister Nina Wilson.
A YouCaring fund has been set up to help the family, initially with hospital bills and now with a memorial.
