GOLDEN, Colo. - Golden police are searching for a man who robbed a cab driver at gunpoint early Monday morning.
The cab driver had just picked up some passengers at a Black Hawk casino and dropped them off at the Golden Hotel. Around 7:30 a.m., he drove into the hang glider pullout near the junction of U.S. Highway 6 and Highway 58 and parked there for a quick nap, police said.
A few minutes later, the driver was awakened by a man holding a gun to his head and telling him in a thick Spanish accent to wake up and give him all of his money, Golden police said. The driver quickly handed over his cash and the gunman got in the passenger side of another car and that driver sped off.
The victim describes the robber as a Hispanic man about 5-feet-6-inches or 5-feet-7-inches tall, weighing about 200 pounds. The gunman had long black hair pulled back into a pony tail and there was a scar on the left side of his face. He was wearing blue jeans, a white T-shirt and white tennis shoes.
The vehicle he jumped into was a white car, possibly a Buick, with Arizona license plates. If you have any information on this case, you're asked to call Golden Police at 303-384-8045.
