GREELEY, Colo. -- The brother of a man gunned down last week in an apparent case of road rage is asking the public for help in catching his killer.
"My brother's life was taken from us so suddenly and so soon. Our family seeks answers to begin to heal and find peace," Art Ruiz said.
Greeley police said Alberto Ruiz Junior, 25, was shot once in the head in the 3000 block of 29th Street before his car crashed April 25. Police said they have been investigating the homicide tirelessly, interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance video from the area. The victim's brother made a public plea to help catch the person responsible.
"We're asking the public for help. No one deserves to endure what our family's going through," Ruiz said.
Ruiz described the gaping hole his brother's death has left in their family, particularly impacting his two young sons.
"His children are young and have been crying themselves to sleep each night," Ruiz said. "Beto was our joy; his hugs brought us comfort, his jokes brought us laughter and his smile brought us peace."
Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for a tan or gold 1998 to 2003 Chevy S10 with black fender flares above the wheels. They are still not sure whether Ruiz Junior was targeted or whether this was a random act.
