DENVER -- Broncos fans donned their best gear and brought some serious energy for the NFL kickoff game. All eyes were on Denver Thursday night for the Super Bowl 50 rematch in primetime.

The game ushered in a positive atmosphere in downtown Denver after issues on the 16th Street Mall. Fans didn't seem to notice the recent problems with the homeless or urban travelers.

"It means so much for the city because not only is the city growing and people are seeing how wonderful Colorado and the city of Denver is, this just brings more attention," said Ben Gallegos, a Broncos fan who traveled from Los Angeles to be at the game.

Downtown was transformed in the days leading up to the game. Fans flooded Civic Center Park for the 2016 NFL Kickoff.

"I think it’s wonderful… people tailgating, they’re all over the place, there’s so much orange it’s exciting," said Joe Bolubasz, a Broncos fan from Lincoln, Nebraska.

Officials with Visit Denver said it was still too early to determine the economic impact from the game. They expect the impact from this primetime home opener will be larger than a typical season game.
