BRECKENRIDGE, Colo – Fire crews near Breckenridge are responding to a second wildfire burning in Summit County that prompted a pre-evacuation order, which was later lifted.

Friday afternoon, Breckenridge Police announced on Twitter that crews were responding to a fire burning southeast of the town on Bald Mountain, which is commonly referred to as “Baldy.”

Residents living near or on North Fuller Place were put on alert to prepare for possible evacuation, but several hours later the threat diminished and the order was lifted.

The Bald Mountain fire is currently about a half-acre in size, according to one official. Fire crews, including a helicopter, are already on scene trying to contain the blaze.

Crews on the other side of the valley are battling the 84-acre Peak 2 fire, which is 7 percent contained. The fire sparked late Wednesday morning and has prompted hundreds of evacuations in the Peak 7 neighborhood.
