Boy on bike struck by car in Evergreen neighborhood

EVERGREEN, Colo. - A 6-year-old boy was struck on his bicycle by a car in the El Pinal neighborhood of Evergreen Sunday evening.

The boy suffered a broken leg, according to Colorado State Patrol Sgt. Michael Gartner.

The accident was reported at 7:45 p.m. on El Pinal Drive, near Appaloosa Drive.  The boy was struck by a Ford Escort as he headed to Stagecoach Park.

Gartner said the speed limit is 20 mph in the neighborhood. 

The driver of the Escort will be issued a misdemeanor summons for careless driving causing injury, Gartner said.
