LONGMONT, Colo. (AP) — Boulder County tenant farmers would stop growing genetically modified crops under a draft proposal.

The Times-Call reports the plan gives farmers leasing county land until 2020 to phase out GM corn crops.

GM beet crops would be phased out by 2022.

People can learn more at a 6 p.m. meeting Oct. 24 at Boulder County's Park and Open Space Department headquarters.

The Parks and Open Space Advisory Committee and Board of County Commissioners will also hold public hearings on the proposal.

People can also submit comments online.
