BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. - The district attorney has cleared a Boulder County sheriff's deputy of wrongdoing after he shot and killed a Longmont man in a confrontation last month.
The Longmont Times-Call reported that a review by DA Stan Garnett concluded Deputy Brandon Bussard was justified in shooting 43-year-old Christopher George on Dec. 29.
Authorities said George drew a handgun and pointed it at Bussard, and the deputy shot George three times.
Bussard and another deputy had gone to see if George should be committed to a hospital for his own safety after his mother called the sheriff's department for help.
She said George was living with her and was unhappy about being unemployed. She said he had refused to leave his room for several days except to go to the bathroom.
