BOULDER, Colo. – BB-8, meet BB-9E.

The all-black, sinister-looking First Order Droid is one of the latest additions to Boulder, Colorado-based Sphero’s line of ‘Star Wars’ branded remote-controlled toys.

Sphero released BB-9E and R2-D2 connected toys on Friday as part of the ‘Force Friday II’ promotion event leading up to the release of the newest ‘Star Wars’ film. BB-9E is a new droid character that will be introduced in the upcoming film.

Just like the popular BB-8 toy, users interact with and control R2-D2 and BB-9E through a companion smartphone app.

R2-D2 retails for $179.99 while BB-9E sells for $149.99.

‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ premieres on Dec. 15, 2017.
