ERIE, Colo. - A utility worker found an improvised explosive device Thursday at a park in Erie.
The IED was found at 8:50 a.m. near the pavilion at Lehigh Park, within Erie Commons, according to Mountain View Fire Rescue.
"The preliminary investigation indicated an unknown substance or device had ignited near the pavilion," officials said.
The Boulder County Bomb Team Commander determined the substance/device appeared to be a crude attempt to make an IED.
Because the investigation is ongoing, anyone who saw the device or someone in the park this morning is asked to contact Corporal Aaron Haddox at 303-926-2800.
