AURORA, Colo. - A bomb investigation briefly shut down 6th Avenue near Buckley Air Force Base, according to tweets from the Aurora Police Department.

The short message said 6th Avenue is closed from Telluride Street to Picadilly Road

At 2:13 p.m., the department sent this tweet:

"APD has shut down both directions of EB 6th Avenue from Telluride St to Picadilly Rd due to a bomb investigation near the gate of BuckleyAFB."

A Buckley Air Force Base spokesman said a dog got a hit on a car entering the base through the 6th Avenue gate around 2 p.m. The area was shut down as a precaution.

They tweeted that the road was reopened in both directions at 2:28 p.m.
