DENVER - Criminal background checks for firearm sales in Colorado were in the thousands this Black Friday.
As of 4:20 p.m., more than 3,200 checks had been processed by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, according to the bureau's social media updates.
The shopping day after Thanksgiving is the busiest for the unit that processes the gun checks, according to officials.
"We definitely have been busy today and expected to be even busier through the weekend," said Richard Taylor, manager of Firing Line, an Aurora gun store.
