ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. -- An African-American woman who lives in Adams County says she's getting racist notes slipped under her door and is getting harassed by a stranger who knocks on her door after midnight and runs away.
Allison Butler, who lives at the Timber Lodge apartments, discovered a note Saturday night at her front door that included the phrase "N----- B----" and a previous note that included “N----- don’t belong”.
Butler tells Denver7 the leasing office isn’t letting her break her lease and complex managers told her they can’t control what’s happening in the hallways.
“I asked to be released from my lease but the manager at the leasing office.... (her) response is that I could buy out of it which means I could pay two-months’ rent even though I'm being harassed,” said Burton.
Butler said she reported the second incident with the Adam’s County Sheriff’s Office, but the deputy told her there isn’t much they can do. She also said they told her they needed video showing who is leaving the notes.
Butler said she mainly thinks its young teens doing the harassment.
Denver7 reached out to the leasing office and the management company that manages Timber Lodge for a comment and have yet to hear back.
