THORNTON, Colo. - A bicyclist was hit and killed in Thornton Sunday night, but the suspected driver didn't stop and called police from home.

Thornton police said the crash was reported at 10:20 p.m.  Police were called to 100th Avenue and Colorado Boulevard where they found a cyclist was hit as he went through the intersection.

The crash was originally called in as a hit-and-run but police said a 34-year-old Thornton man contacted them from his home to report he didn't know he had hit someone.  It was not immediately clear what caused the man to call police.

The man was driving a 1988 GMC pickup.

Police were continuing their investigation early Monday morning.
