In the small town of Berthoud, the pain is felt across the community.

A sign in front of Calvary Berthoud Church reads, “Open for Grieving and Prayer.”

“It’s a close community and when something like a tragedy like this occurs, the whole community feels it,” said member Carly Stephen. Stephen hopes prayer will bring security during the heartbreak.

"It breaks for her, it breaks for him, it breaks for their families, their friends, it breaks for the whole community."

Investigators responding to a tip regarding two missing teens from Berthoud found a body and the truck they had been searching for in unincorporated Mesa County on Friday.

Tanner Flores, 18, was taken into custody Friday morning, according to a statement released by the Larimer County Sheriff's Office.

Flores and his ex-girlfriend, Ashley Marie Doolittle, 18, were reported missing Thursday night.

Investigators had asked people to be on the lookout for Flores' white 1999 Dodge 2500 diesel pickup truck and warned that he might be armed with a handgun, the sheriff's office stated.

Someone reported seeing the truck in Mesa County at approximately 8 a.m.

The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office and other local authorities went to check it out and found Tanner’s pickup and the body of a young adult female, investigators said in a statement.

The body has not been identified.

Family members went looking for Doolittle and found her vehicle in the area of Lon Hagler Reservoir, the sheriff's office stated early Friday morning.

Doolittle's family told investigators she recently ended a one-year relationship with Flores.

Investigators stated that Flores hadn't been seen since 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Flores was reportedly distraught over the recent breakup, the sheriff's office stated.
