BERTHOUD, Colo. -- A teenager's body was found inside Berthoud High School Thursday, prompting the school to cancel classes both Thursday and Friday.

The Larimer County Sheriff's Office said deputies got a report about the missing teen early Thursday morning.

The teen's parents told deputies the teen might have gone to Berthoud High School, deputies said.

When deputies went to the school, they said they found an open door and inside, they located the teenager's body.

"There is no known threat to the school, students, staff, or citizens living or working in the area," the Larimer County Sheriff's Office said. "All necessary precautions are being taken to ensure the continued safety of Berthoud High School."

Law enforcement on scene told Denver7's Jason Gruenauer that the high school will also be closed Friday, and that parents have been notified.

Officials have not released the teen's name or cause of death, but they are asking anyone with information about this situation to call the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office at 970-416-1985 or Crime Stoppers at 970-221-6868.
