EAGLE COUNTY, Colo. - A party in the employee housing at Beaver Creek Ski Resort ended with a man stabbed in the back.
The Eagle County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called to the Tarnes employee housing at 12:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Deputies said when they arrived, they found one man with a stab wound and a witnesses holding another man.
The 24-year-old victim was taken to the hospital in Vail with a non-life threatening wound.
The suspect, 19-year-old Chase Allen Speegle, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, false reporting to authorities, trespassing, and illegal possession of alcohol by a minor.
Witnesses told deputies that the suspect and his girlfriend came to a party at Building 3 in the Tarnes Apartment Complex with a tan backpack that they said was full of illegal drugs including cocaine, "molly" (a methamphetamine derivative) and acid (LSD), according to the Eagle County Sheriff's Office.
The witnesses told police they asked the couple to leave and they did, but they came back and there was a fight.
The victim was stabbed and witnesses tackled the suspect, but the suspect's girlfriend left with the backpack, deputies said.
The girlfriend was later arrested. However, the alleged backpack full of drugs has not been found.
