A baby sitter accused of using taking two children with her to rob a bank allegedly wanted the money to pay restitution in another case.
The Weld County Sheriff's Office says 28-year-old Rachel Einspahr went through the drive through of Colorado East Bank and Trust in Severance with the two children, ages 7 and 20 months, on Friday.
She sent a note through the vacuum tube that said, "Do not sound alarm. The man in the very back wants $100's and $50's no dye packs or trackers [sic] he has a gun on my kids," according to the arrest affidavit obtained by Denver7.
The teller told police he gave her twenty $50 bills in an envelope.
Just 25 minutes later, investigators spotted the SUV at a house less than a half mile away, according to the arrest affidavit.
The affidavit said after interviewing Einspahr's employer and Einsphar, Einsphar said, "I can't go back to jail."
Detectives said after maintaining she was forced by an unknown man to take him to the bank and get money, Einsphar admitted she planned the robbery and wanted to use the money to pay $15,000 as part of a restitution/plea deal, the arrest affidavit said.
The affidavit said Einsphar has an open case in Evans for over 30 counts of forgery, ID theft and felony theft. The paperwork said Einsphar has a second open case in Larimer County on two counts of ID theft.
